Hello, my name is Cinthia Carpio, and I am a mother and collaborator at a local Waldorf School in San José, Costa Rica.
Our primary school project started in 2020, driven by a group of parents, including myself, whose children attended a private kindergarten that followed Waldorf principles. We were passionate about continuing this educational model, which led to the creation of the El Huerto Waldorf Initiative School.
Over the past years, our community has grown to accommodate 37 students, ranging from 4 to 11 years old. We've been dedicated to enhancing our teachers' skills and working towards certification from the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica (MEP).
Unfortunately, we recently received distressing news from the MEP. They informed us that our facilities do not meet the required standards and gave us a notice to close by the end of this month, November 2023. The primary challenge we face is financial because many of our families have low incomes, and we accepted their children on a barter basis. We lack the necessary funds to make the infrastructure changes demanded by the MEP.
Despite these setbacks, our community remains determined not to give up. We are actively organizing ourselves to continue our project. We are exploring funding options and seeking various forms of support, including material and equipment donations, teacher training, exchanges, and volunteer work. We are open to any assistance that can help us keep our dream alive.
While researching ways to support our project, I came across your website and decided to reach out to you. If you are interested in collaborating with our school in any of the mentioned ways or if you have other ideas to contribute, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this, and I wish you all the best.
Best regards, Cinthia Carpio, +506-870-67720, [email protected]
