Out of his wisdom and experience, Dutch educator Daniel Udo de Haes offers perspective on how to enrich and guide early childhood development through fairy tales. Fairy tales and old folktales are rich in powerful images that can seem out of place in the early childhood classroom. Drawing clear analogies between the child’s journey into the school-age years and the truths and lessons in fairy tale language, Udo de Haes’s discussion brings educators and parents new understanding to the ways in which well-told fairy tales prevent “impoverishment through the loss of something that should still be a reality: the spiritual world in which the child should still be living."

The World of Fairy Tales is a modern classic for professional development and parent education, translated into English for the first time in this edition.
