The Waldorf Book of Songs

3/5/2017

Over 300 songs gathered from Waldorf schools around the world and organized by grade.
Children in Waldorf schools around the world begin every day with singing. They sing throughout the day in main lesson, foreign language lessons, chorus, and just about every other time during the day. Every day is a symphony of song in a Waldorf school.

The Waldorf schools have a music curriculum wonderfully designed around the child's developing consciousness. It starts in first grade with pentatonic music. In the course of the next eight years, a student will sing farming songs, clapping songs, folk songs, number songs, graces, work songs, echo songs, call and response songs, rounds, songs with ostinato, harmony singing, songs in Latin and other languages, ballads, catches, sea shanties, madrigals, 3- and 4-part songs, and fugal canons. Wow, that's a lot of songs!
