The Society’s second annual weekend retreat to discuss The Life, Nature and Cultivation of Anthroposophy! is scheduled for September 18 – 20, 2015 at the Rudolf Steiner House in Ann Arbor. Branches and those active in working groups (study and subject groups) are warmly encouraged to send a representative from your community to this exploration of ways in which the work of anthroposophical study and community building might be strengthened and enlivened. What does it mean to be a branch of the Anthroposophical Society? What does it mean to be a group? How do we associate with one another in order to create stronger connections between our communities across the country? We will again focus our program around Rudolf Steiner’s series of “Letters to Members” collected and available in the book entitled The Life, Nature and Cultivation of Anthroposophy.  This material is somewhat unique in the writings of Rudolf Steiner in that they were written specifically to members immediately following the Christmas Conference. In them, Rudolf Steiner speaks quite directly about the soul quality we are trying to cultivate within the Society.  Facilitators for the weekend are Fred Amrine, Marian Leon, Elizabeth Roosevelt and Nathaniel Williams. Participants are asked to study this material in advance so they are prepared to enter into lively and thoughtful conversations—and movement! (More about this in a follow up email.) During the course of the weekend we will have time to get to know one another, to build a picture of the life and challenges in our unique communities, to have guided conversations as well as opportunities to share one another’s wisdom. The retreat will begin on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and conclude on Sunday at noon. Space is limited to 25 participants and we are hoping to have representation from across the country. A limited number of rooms are available at the Rudolf Steiner House; others will be able to stay with local members or in nearby hotels. Rooms at the Steiner House are reserved on a first come – first served basis. To reserve a room, or to receive a list of possible home stays, please contact Cynthia (Cynthia@anthroposophy.org; 734.662.9355 X214.) We hope you can join us in Ann Arbor! Please follow this link to register online. The registration fee of $140 includes lunch on Saturday and breakfast both Saturday and Sunday. Questions? Or if you prefer to register by phone, please contact Marian or Cynthia at the Society’s offices in Ann Arbor. 734.662.9355 or email marian@anthroposophy.org or cynthia@anthroposophy.org
