The Individual Encounter and the Path to Community

The Anthroposophical Society in America's fall conference and annual general meeting are just around the corner. The dates are October 11-13, and the location is the Monadnock Waldorf School, Keene, New Hampshire. There are several fee options to help ensure that you can come.

This is an opportunity to:

  • hear an outstanding opening panel discussion with Douglas Gerwin, education; Guy Alma, Camphill; Steffen Schneider, biodynamics; Kathleen Schwerin, business; Patrick Kennedy, Christian Community; and Leslie Loy, Youth Section. Robert Karp will facilitate a conversation beginning with each panelist sharing a particular encounter which led them to their life’s work, and then share their observations around the existential – or boundary – questions facing their anthroposophic work today and into the future.
  • meet and hear from the new leader of the Youth Section at the Goetheanum, Constanza Kaliks.
  • experience scenes from the Mystery Dramas, beginning a year of preparation for the performance in English of all four dramas next summer.
  • choose among eight great workshops.
  • meet old and new friends, and take part in the annual meeting.
  • take part in a conversation for members of the School for Spiritual Science.
  • enjoy a glorious New England Autumn at its height.
Details and online registration are here:

“In anthroposophy, it is a question of the truths that can be brought to light by it. In the anthroposophical society, it is a question of the life in it.” - Rudolf Steiner, 3rd Letter to the Members

“If you look at the past fifty years of the Society and think of these two powers (truth and life) as on a scale, you will see that truth has been laid on far heavier than life. If truth is overemphasized, then you forget life. The meetings of the General Secretaries [at the Goetheanum] are revealing more and more the need to cultivate both the truth and the life, in a balanced way, for our work to succeed.” - Torin Finser, "The Task of the Society in This Century," a lecture delivered at Hawthorne Valley, January 16, 2010. Thank you!
