SeaHeart School is a 6 year old Waldorf initiative tucked away in the jungle of southern Costa Rica. Serving children (for the most part locals) from 2-6 years of age, this bi-lingual school is a refuge for families living in this fairly high-crime, high drug-use tourist destination. The school is tucked away between the jungle and the beautiful black-sand Playa Negra, and is surrounded by coconut palms, banana trees, wild ginger, bread fruit and exotic flowers of all colors. The programs are taught by two local Caribbean women, supported by volunteers from the Friends of Waldorf Education, in the small town of Puerto Viejo.
