Are you working as a teacher in an independent or public Waldorf school? Did you teach in a Waldorf or Steiner school the past? If so, in just 15 minutes, you can contribute your voice and experiences to help build a deeper understanding of Waldorf teacher development.
Your participation will help to create a rich picture, including answering questions such as:
My name is Emily Merchant from Salt Lake City, Utah in the US. I have spent the last decade involved in Waldorf school administration, teaching, and training. Presently, I am completing a dissertation at Antioch University with a focus on Waldorf education. I am hoping to gather data about current Waldorf teachers' experience, including as large a sample as possible from English-speaking participants throughout the world. I am focusing my research on the experiences of Waldorf teachers, particularly trying to learn about their lived experience of becoming and being teachers, including the influence of training, mentoring, and other supports. My goal is to gather a very large data set in order to capture the most broad and accurate picture possible of the present dynamics within the Waldorf community.
Greater participation will provide more opportunities for me to identify trends and themes within subgroups and, hopefully, begin to understand the experiences and needs of teachers in ways that can be meaningfully applied by those engaging in teacher training, recruitment, and development. My research tool is a survey administered through the Qualtrics platform. It can be completed on any electronic device. It includes three sections: demographic information, rating scales, and open-ended questions. The first two sections should take only 5-7 minutes to complete. The final section is optional and the length of time needed will vary based on the individual. Responses to the open questions can be written or audio or video recordings, providing various formats to facilitate easier participation. All responses will remain confidential. Your 15 minutes of time to help build a robust understanding that can benefit all of the Waldorf community is most appreciated.
