The Applied Arts Program 14th Cycle: A Part-Time, In-person, Professional Training for Teachers of Handwork, New Cycle Starts July 28 - August 8, 2025
Meeting in person for one week each winter and two weeks each summer over the course of four years, the students of the Applied Arts Program share experiences that shape their work and their lives for years to come. Meaningful, lasting relationships develop, based upon each group’s shared journey of self-development. In the program, students hone their handwork skills, strengthen their capacities, and deepen their creative potential. A learning community forms and countless opportunities arise to observe the dynamics between teaching and learning in the classroom. Learning how to bring these experiences to children in ways that are grounded in real knowledge of child development is at the heart of the Applied Arts Program. Most of the program’s teachers come straight from the classroom, bringing lively and direct experience of working with today’s children. The curriculum is continually updated to reflect and prepare our students to work in the contemporary classroom.
Though presented primarily in the context of Waldorf education, the program is equally beneficial for teachers in all kinds of schools, including home school settings. We also welcome students seeking to develop and deepen their artistic abilities, handwork skills, and understanding of anthroposophy and Waldorf education.

Woven into the curriculum are activities designed to foster personal and professional development, including eurythmy, games and movement, singing, creative speech, and Spacial Dynamics®. The opportunity to share experiences and explore questions in a collegial atmosphere is central to the process: we strongly believe in the benefits of an in-person educational experience.

All workshops and events take place at the Fiber Craft Studio. It's located on the Threefold Educational Foundation campus in Orchard House, 275 Hungry Hollow Rd., Chestnut Ridge, NY 10977, United States.
