"Establishing lasting peace is the work of education..." M. Montessori
Suddenly, it is September. As much as I anticipate the turn from summer towards Autumn, I always feel astonished when September arrives; grateful for the gifts of sun and garden, the coolness that lingers in morning air brings a quickening of soul.
September 21st is the day that nations have set aside as World Peace Day. It is no wonder that this falls on the Equinox ~ A day of equilibrium in the heavens on which neither day or night is overpowered by the other. We seek such Michaelic balance as we strive for Peace: Calm Quiet Within to listen carefully to truth within polarized viewpoints, and Strength as we stand on the fulcrum point from which is known the tragedies and horrors of war, as well as the healing light that love and compassion create.
I am so happy that you are witness to our current project of teaching peace through storytelling and puppetry arts. In joining together, celebrating our small and humble creative works, we seek to transform ourselves, our communities, and the world wherever possible! In this spirit, our Wapasa board members have embraced a challenge to create "short and sweet" videos that bring peace teaching messages to the fore. May hope still live within our striving for peace. Please look for a special World Peace Day mailing on September 21!
